Reverse Engineering ALS
Explore a systems-based model for ALS with interactive mind maps for patients, caregivers, and clinicians.
Understanding ALS Through Reverse Engineering
Explore my systems-based model of ALS, detailing body systems, dysfunctions, and therapeutic strategies. Designed for patients, caregivers, and clinicians to enhance understanding and support in the ALS journey.
My Mission Statement
Why This Map Exists
Patients and families need more than statistics—they need strategy. This map was created to illuminate what’s breaking down in ALS and offer therapeutic hope grounded in real mechanisms, not false promises.
Mind Map
Explore a systems-based breakdown of ALS—mapped by body system, dysfunction, and therapy—for patients, caregivers, and clinicians.
Interactive Map
Discover therapeutic strategies and root causes of ALS.
How to Use This Map—and What Comes Next
This map is designed to help you explore how ALS affects the body, system by system. It’s a living, interactive resource built to show you exactly what’s breaking down in each area, what science says is driving that breakdown, and what can be done to support repair and healing. Every system on the map expands into three levels. First, you’ll see the core dysfunctions or symptoms that show up in that body system with ALS. Then you’ll see the potential root causes and mechanisms—what’s really going wrong underneath, like inflammation, mitochondrial damage, or toxicity. Then, you’ll find therapeutic strategies. These include proven clinical interventions, promising alternatives, and the exact things I’ve seen help people move forward in real time.
To use the map, click on any node to open it. You’ll see new branches appear below it as you explore deeper into each body system. Click on the node again to close that section if you want to collapse it. You can open multiple branches at once and move between them freely. If you want to move around the map, click and drag to shift your view. If you want to zoom in or out, use your scroll wheel or the zoom buttons on your screen. You can’t break anything, so explore it however works best for you.
This map is based on the sixteen major body systems, including the nervous system, muscular system, immune system, endocannabinoid system, mitochondrial system, and more. It’s based on years of real clinical experience with real ALS patients. It’s built to show the full picture, not just symptoms, but the underlying web of dysfunction. I made it to help patients, caregivers, and professionals understand what’s happening—and what can be done about it.
Once you’ve explored the map, there are a few things you can do next. First, check out the blog. I’m writing a dedicated post for each body system that goes into more detail about what’s in the map and how it connects to real-world strategies. You’ll find links to that blog on this site. You can also reach out to me directly. If something in the map jumps out at you or you want help navigating your own care path, send me an email. I read every one. There’s also a link below to join our private Facebook group. That’s where I do live Q&A sessions, share updates, and host live discussions. You’ll get to meet other people going through this, ask questions, and connect directly with me. And if you’re ready to go deeper, I offer private consultations where we can talk one-on-one about your situation and figure out what steps to take.
You’re not alone in this. This map is your starting point. What comes next is up to you, and I’m here to help when you’re ready.
